This pricing strategy has helped a large number of users across the globe to leapfrog onto the information superhighway called as the internet and leverage phenomenal benefits out of it.

Why Android Devices Are powered with Heavy Hardware Compared to iPhone and WP?

Google's Role

Google’s Android Play is a deliberate strategy to take on Microsoft in the Operating system space where it enjoys a complete monopoly in desktop operating systems. All mission critical projects in rocket science, satellite technology, healthcare, medical devices, government related databases are powered by closed source Microsoft operating system. Google badly wanted a slice of this market but could not get a foothold. So it first invested heavily in the Firefox browser making it the default browser by offering superior functionalities and then entered the mobile operating system space as the next wave of users are highly unlikely to access the internet through the desktop. They will either do so through mobile, tablet, or PDA and this is one space where Microsoft is absent and its Windows phone, though popular in some countries is prone to crashes and viruses.

The Hardware Scenario

Android, being an open source, its source code is open to the public and is more robust and can offer support to unlimited applications, but the drawback is that an android phone works well only with a quad core processor and minimum 2GB RAM. This is because Android operating system is not as flexible as Windows and the battery capacity of the phones does not evolve as fast as an operating system does. Samsung users complain that the Galaxy Note with five full home screens loaded with apps and widgets has some slow down and lags. Quite a few million users treat their Android phones as gaming devices and in order to cater to this latent need of users, manufacturers fit the phones with heavier CPUs and batteries to ensure a seamless gaming experience.

But what they fail to realize is that the market is slowly being lapped by companies offering lighter and slimmer devices. It’s high time android developers run faster to stay in the same place.
